Who Is This For?

Piano lessons made for real adults — not for children, not for prodigies, not for performers.

Many adults come to us because they want:

Most of our adult students are beginners or returning learners — people who simply want music to feel good. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

Why Adults Quit Piano (And How We Fix It)

Most adults don’t quit piano because they “aren’t musical.”
They quit because the approach didn’t fit them.

Adults lose momentum when:

  • Method books feel boring or childish
  • They never get to play real, expressive music
  • They feel overwhelmed or pressured
  • They don’t feel supported
  • There’s no community or connection
  • Progress feels slow or unclear

The Adult Piano Experience was designed specifically to solve these barriers. We help you enjoy learning — and keep enjoying it.

The Adult Piano Experience

A modern, expressive, supportive program designed around how adults learn best.
You’ll grow through a gentle, meaningful combination of:

1. Weekly Adult Piano Classes (Beginner–Early Intermediate)

A warm, small-group setting using our classroom of nine digital pianos.

Designed for adults who want to learn at a comfortable pace in a friendly, no-pressure environment.

You’ll explore music like:

  • Soft pop (Norah Jones, Adele, The Beatles)
  • Classic acoustic ballads
  • Easy blues & jazz patterns
  • Lyrical classical pieces
  • Creative improvisation
  • Techniques for expressive, emotional playing

Each class blends:

  • Guided instruction
  • Individual help
  • Collaborative moments (always optional and only when you’re ready)
  • Creative exercises
  • Practical skill-building
  • Encouragement and connection

Lead by Our Adult Piano Teaching Team

Our warm, classically trained instructors specialize in helping adults learn expressive, meaningful music at a comfortable, enjoyable pace. They bring patience, clarity, and an encouraging environment to every class and lesson.

What Class Actually Feels Like

  • You’ll spend most of the class working at your own piano, with guidance and individual support from the instructor.
  • You’re never required to play in front of others. Sharing, listening, or playing together happens gently and only if and when you feel comfortable.
  • This is not a performance class — it’s a supportive learning environment designed specifically for adult beginners.

2. Optional Private Lessons

For adults who want more individual support, a classical-only focus, or deeper refinement. Available with:

  • Amberli (modern + classical blend)
  • Sherin (expressive classical, technique, artistry)
  • Wu Yu (classical specialist, doctoral candidate)

3. Adult Piano Gatherings (Included)

Every 6–8 weeks we host a relaxed morning where adult students gather to:
  • Enjoy teacher performances
  • Share music (optional)
  • Connect with others
  • Ask questions
  • Enjoy light refreshments
  • Feel inspired and supported
No pressure. Just music, community, and belonging.

4. Optional Studio Class Integration

When you’re ready — not before — you can join Matt’s Studio Classes to gently explore:
  • Playing simple parts with others
  • Musical creativity
  • Understanding how songs work
  • Low-pressure collaboration
  • Cross-instrument experiences with guitarists & drummers
Many adults never choose this; others grow into it
The path is always optional and tailored to you
We’ll help you choose the best next step based on your goals and availability.

"Highly recommend! I have always wanted to learn how to play piano since I was little but never did. At age 31 I decided it was time and I couldn’t be happier. Sherin (the owner) is SO nice and professional! Laura is my normal weekly teacher and she is very knowledgeable and helpful. I knew nothing about piano or reading music and they have made the process fun and enjoyable! If you are an adult wanting to learn piano I highly recommend reaching out to Music Lessons Arizona!"

"I have had a desire to play the piano since I was a young boy. My grandfather is a proficient player and I always looked up to him as a pianist. I had a hard time committing to the piano, so I put it off for decades.

I felt encouraged when I discovered Music Lessons Arizona and read so many positive student reviews and got familiar with the programs. As an adult beginner, I felt VERY encouraged after my consultation with Sherin. She shared some success stories with students and let me now there are plenty of adult beginners!

I am only about 2 months in to my lessons and I am astonished at the progress. The lessons are "the fastest hour of my life" because they are packed with practice, theory, and fun! Special shout out to Laura for getting me started on my piano journey and encouraging me to love the piano and make it FUN.

I would recommend Music Lessons Arizona to ANYONE who feels like they could benefit from lessons and structure. Although I am a beginner, I can tell Sherin and her staff teach at the highest level. I look forward to my lessons every Sunday!"

"I decided to take piano lessons because I was looking for something more enriching than my usual routine, something that would let me move away from just playing video games in my spare time. When I first walked into Music Lessons Arizona, I was a total beginner. I didn’t know a thing about reading sheet music and didn’t even own a piano or a keyboard. I was really starting from zero. The instructors were fantastic at guiding me through those first steps. They really emphasized why having a piano with weighted keys was important for building the right technique and finger strength, and they patiently taught me how to read music from the ground up. What I appreciated most was that they never made me feel rushed. They always made sure I understood each concept before moving on and offered practical tips that made learning enjoyable. I remember the first time I played at one of the school’s workshops—it was incredibly exciting, and my instructor was right there cheering me on. I’d absolutely recommend Music Lessons Arizona to any adult who’s thinking about learning piano. It’s a really welcoming place, and the journey has been genuinely rewarding for me. I’m really glad I started here."

"I have been playing piano for a number of years and felt like I was not progressing anymore. Sherin took the time to understand what I needed and my lessons with Amberli were some of the most informative I have experienced in my life thus far. Not only did she help improve my comprehension in music reading, but also brought to attention some of the habits I had formed over time with posture, hand positioning, etc. If you are looking to step your performance up to the next level, or are new the the world of music, I couldn't recommend Music Lessons AZ more!"
